Sharp-shinned hawk

Whoohoo!
A sharp-shinned hawk
in my garden
and right outside my window
as I walked inside the kitchen after being in Galena all weekend
and of course I couldn't find my camera
and when I did he raised his wings
and I just shot before he lifted off.
I did a bird count in Galena
but who knew I'd come home to see this fella
....at least he didn't carry off one of my precious squirrels
....Happy Jack...you won the lottery today and don't know it
joy

  2. Whoaaaaaa. Is that thing blue? Whatever you're doing to attract these owls and hawks, keep doing it:) You must have a very hardy squirrel population:)

So everytime we pass this spot I look

  5. Suz,
We have lots of these birds hanging around poles and watching the bird feeders for any bird they can quickly chase and kill.
I guess they have to eat too but I always make sure the bird feeder is near a spruce tree so the other birds have a chance for a quick escape. They are a very pretty bird and you got a nice shot of him/her.
