Looking only at now

I love to walk this path into the garden in the deep of summer.
Because of my overplanting of everything
it provides the only shade in this southwest facing backyard.

..and as you make the turn just under the arbor
with its many hanging objects
the garden unfolds
...It never ceases to thrill me
this unfolding
This I got right...

But, today it is a path of snow
that leads into a garden of more snow
and the snow is slowly turning to mush
revealing the messy remains of the birdfeeders
Oh woe..

64 more days until spring
until the first aconite

So I try to enjoy what is
before me
staying in the present
...for it is here
that I am

No one promises us spring.

WHAT YOU HAVE,
AND TO BE ABLE TO LOSE ALL DESIRE FOR THINGS
BEYOND YOUR REACH"

  1. After seeing all your wonderful pictures of your winter yard with snow, it will be fun to see it in the spring time and warm days of summer.

In the meantime...enjoy the beauty of the white stuff and stay cozy.

  3. Staying in the present is a good thing. Savor every moment because what a difference a day can make.
As the garden sleeps we dream of the surprises that will emerge from deep in the earth with the warm kiss of Spring!

  4. Naturegirl
    thank you for visiting me
    I shall think pink rose
Would you believe I rescued a ping rose bush
this fall...a house had been sold near my daughter's home and the young couple
were ripping everything out to put in a lawn for their dog...
I got the rose...violently ripped from the earth...driven one hour across town...sat in water overnight...planted hurriedly the next day...in falling temperatures....and would believe it bloomed
I shall always think of your mother when it blooms
I keep you in my prayers Anna

  5. Beautiful. :-)

Our snow has just cleared and after a long while (for us in the uk) living in a 'white world' I am so looking forward to Spring - your post summed it up wonderfully.

I recently found your blog and am so glad I did.
