we were in our beloved Galena this weekend
magic place forus me
We got new windows put in
my my my just like a new dress
or a great haircut....beautiful
It was a perfect day....today...so we went to our favorite garden place
Murphy's garden, and did some plant buying!
where will I put them...even Mr. Wench picked out a few!
As we were admiring her show gardens...and I mean admire
(my camera...home)
anyway...as I was admiring her gardens I amost scared her to death when I let out a shout
WHAT IS THAT CALLED?!?!
and just like that she said
Oh that is Persicaria polymorpha......White dragon fleece flower
after years of it showing up mysteriously.....and not know what the heck it was
only that it smells like a cow barn..and that the insects LOVE it
No one could tell me what it was
and NOW I KNOW
white dragon fleece flower!!!
HOW COOL IS THAT FOR A WENCH'S GARDEN
JOY JOY JOY

It's beautiful. How could a plant that's so lovely smell like a cow barn. I mean, cow barns down really smell that bad, if you're use to them, but a plant this pretty shouldn't. It even has a beautiful name.
ReplyDeleteMurphy's Garden... Awe! Did they have goats there?
oh my did you hear me just laugh....oh I loved that...Murphy's garden
Deletesob sob through my tears
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! This has been a huge mystery to me as well. We saw it all over the place in Southern Wisconsin and it grew wild. The bugs loved it and I asked people....but no one seemed to know.....and today, I got my answer! Thank you so much! It's a beautiful plant smell or not.....but you're right the bugs do like it:) Glad you had fun but you just made my day....I spent hours trying to research this plant. I have tons of photos of it from our Crane Foundation visit. Fun shopping is the best!
ReplyDeleteoh my really????
DeleteMurphy's garden...sells it!
she says it is a lovely plant for the garden...not invasive...clump forming....and dies down clear to the ground...and the hollow reeds left are good for kindling....ha!...and she told me for my posin ivy to take chocolate mint and peppermint leaves and squish them together and to rub the oils on my skin...IT WORKED
the itch was gone.....I love this lady
and of course I went home with a car full of new plants
...joy..and I too searched unsuccessfully for the identity of this plant.....and Sunday..there it was in her display garden!
It's really funny to me how random something will happen on the blogs. If I wait long enough, I'll get an ID on a plant that I've spent hours searching for!!! Glad mint/peppermint combo works.....and I'm excited to see how your new plants will look in the garden:)
DeleteBeautiful, frothy, delicate - and stinky? I guess that's what attracts the insects. The name is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit - I'm glad for the opportunity to 'get to know you'.
my joy Pondside
Deletethat is stunning!
ReplyDelete(i want to be the person
who gets to name the varieties:))

Jennifer
