It rained all night
and I will not be taking a walk in the garden today.
But this morning as I opened the kitchen shutter
I saw a Rose breasted Grosbeak sitting in the
feeder tray attached to the deck just inches from the window.
Of course, he flew away immediately
before I could get my camera...
But I did shout out to my husband
A Rose breasted !

The Servceberries are loaded with ripening berries
I wait for the cedar waxwings to arrive
as they do in a huge flock
and with the Robins...they pick them clean in one afternoon

  1. What a nice surprise to see out your window. I'm not sure if I have ever seen a rose grosbeak. Last Sunday morning I got early and took my binoculars down to the creek to see what was going on and saw a huge flock of ceder waxwing in the eucalyptus trees. They are one of my favorite birds. I was surprised to see them because I thought they only hung out in this area in winter.

  2. Incredible sight to see!!!! Love it. I look forward to birding in Wisconsin this summer while it is warmer:)

  3. I would LOVE to be there with you to delight in the Rose Breasted Grosebeaks and the Cedar Waxwings---what joys you have to look forward to. Hugs!

  4. I would be shouting with delight too. What a beautiful bird! I don't think I have ever seen one, as they only migrate through my southern state.

    1. they are magnificent in person....that rose is awsome

  5. Such a pretty bird. I've never seen one in person.

  6. A smile and joy that only they bring on their return! :-)

  7. Suz,
What a beautiful bird. I have seen a few of these birds but they are not a constant visitor to the Island. I just love it when you have such beautiful photo's to go with your blog.
The tree's are just starting to bud now. It seems so weird to think the birds are already cleaning off the berries.
    Have a great weekend.

  8. It would not matter where you are or what kind of weather is outside. You are always able to see the beauty... because you look.
You have the joy of nature that will always find something to marvel at.
    That is a beautiful bird.

  9. i always make sure the feeders are full, the bird bath is clear and with water... feed the flowers with their right fertilizers becoz i love waking up seeing nature wake up with me with blooms..

leave me a line of joy
