Autumn bird food

Cottoneasters are sensible plants
nothing flashy
nothing in them that stirs desire
but they are reliable
A source of food for migratory birds
who grace my garden in the seasons of growth,
and then have to leave me...which always breaks my heart,
for I love them dearly...their sweet songs and their flitting about,
sometimes gracing me with a nest or two
And I mostly mean the Robin,my favorite bird
I started out being a bird lover and watcher,
then realized I needed to invite them here...
thus began my gardening days
No regrets,
for I love when God comes and visits me there
And for this I am grateful to the animals and birds,
who taught me this
So go ahead feast on the seeds, berries and nuts
We both share in His bounty

  1. This is such a beautiful post; I too love birds and animals and delight in watching them feed on the fruits of nature. I have been enjoying seeing our beautiful birds, the tui and kereru, feeding on the bounties of spring.
