Ah, the lone Chickadee
that graces my newly filled feeder
He better eat fast
the news will get out
and the squirrel will arrive
bully of the neighborhood
...for now...until the hawk shows up
So eat away little friend
You bring me a ray of joy
on this gloomy gray afternoon
as I try to triumph
over a nasty cold bug

  1. We don't have chickadees over here, but that looks like something we call a great tit (Parus major). I wonder if they're related? It's a very cute little bird.

  2. Get better soon and enjoy the show at your feeder!

  3. hope you're being gentle with yourself
    as you mend
and that the gray will glimmer
    with some fresh home:)

  4. Such a darling little bird. And sorry to hear you've had a cold - been through our house too. Are you reading your book club book? Snuggle up with your afgan, relax and read. Take care and happy new year!

  5. I wish you that the coming year will bring you peace, good health, good cheer and prosperity. Happy New Year! Valentina D.

  6. Chickadees are the bravest birds. Mine only move a branch away when I am feeding so they can be the first ones to get fresh seed. Such bravery for such a little bird!

    1. oh you are so right about chickadees
      thanks for the visit

  7. Oh the sweet chickadees with their happy little song on a freezing cold blowing day. This are one of my favorite birds.
Hope you are feeling better to enjoy all your fair weather friends.
Wishing you all the best in 2013. Has handsome been by lately? Or just his lady friend?

  8. Love the little chickadees. I also love that they like to follow me around when I'm home visiting:) Pretty birds. Hope you had a great new year! Chris
