I thought I brought this beebalm in with the rescued plants last fall, but when I saw it this morning..its purple color emerging I remembered I actually paid for this one. Trish from the summer plein art group last year got it for me at a farmer's market when I told her how much I admired it at one the gardens we were drawing at......thanks Trish....
I have red beebalm and Pink beebalm....
use to have the native one..a light purple...
so I was giddy this morning having discovered what I had forgotten
ahh...the garden..full of surprises

My first coneflower has opened and do you see those red mums. Oh and that Bishop weed that my "dear" friend Jud gave me a while back. She loves it.
I hope to get out in the garden this afternoon and do some puttering...love puttering
Then maybe this evening I'll set the table and sit out on the deck and have an adult beverage with my mom
Go White Soxs....1/2 game out of first!
And here are the secreted away morning glories that the rabbit hasn't found ..yet
I put them out into the garden near a trellis
Keep our fingers crossed for me that I get to see at least one bloom
This is my butterfly drinking hole......and they do use it to lite upon and have a drink.
I was going to enter this photo in a photr meme..but heck I just don't know to link properly to the day appropriate post...and I'm not getting any smarter the nearer I am to.....that awful number.
But that's for another blog.

Oh the mosquitoes....so much rain! But this morning it was sunny and cool so I decided to take my camera outside and see what is going on in the garden today. I would show you the thistle and lemon balm that needs removal....but why ruin your day? May you find joy wherever you LOOK today....for it is there for you to find....blessings

I know these as harebells. They are just making a comeback after the landscapers just about pulled all of them out one year during fall cleanup. I should divide and move them around the garden just to be on the safe side. I really like these pretty little bells and so do the bees and the hummingbirds. That's what a garden is about for me.....nature's restaurant.....or should I say bar!
Always always my open bar of joy

This bird house is the most fertile bird house ever...it is never empty. But the bad part is that hangs on a dead branch. This morning it stormed...it's still storming....I got this picture just before the downpour. It is right in the pathway...so everytime I pass by they start peeping. Love it. What makes one house so popular and the others sit empty...even by the wrens...heck if I know. So what do I do about this one? I want to move it...at least to a live branch...but when.

The afternoon light caught this fairy just right, making her the stuff of make believe...right up my alley.
What would a garden be without those helper fairies...?
My camera broke....I dropped it..and the other one...I can't for the life of me find it....mental fatigue
let's just blame that. I fell asleep with the kitten this afternoon......a catnap...haha
no gardening today, except to fill the feeders
Oh, I did find out what hit my kitchen window last week....in the Annabelle hydrangeas.....
a large black and white pigeon.....I think he must have lived a while
this makes me sad.....but I guess I can't save them all
and I have never seen a pigeon here before
but he was beautiful.....I buried him
and told him I was sorry he hit my window
go in peace

This is one of those plants brought in by the birds...The Elderberry. Right now it has finished blooming...a beautiful display of big clusters of white flowers that are so fragrant you can enjoy them way across the garden. Almost like a lilac...
Many "gardeners" would kick me right out of their club with this common roadside plant in my midst. Well, they have never enjoyed the benefits of all kinds of birds going nutso for the berries. Literally dozens of them on the bush at a time...all getting drunk. I love it...It is after all my "open bar of joy".......and all you robins, cedar waxwings,blackbirds...welcome

My husband thinks my "stuff" like that squirrel on the wall and that ginko leaf with eyes is over the top......
but it makes me..me....and he likes me...What part of this doesn't he get?
I love wimsy....in the house, in the garden..in my jewelry and shoes.....and in my friends
Life is waaaaaaaaaay to short to not have fun
and sometimes this is all it takes to put a smile on my face....a walk in the garden or on the front porch and
a bugeyed ginko leaf...

I'm not good with Latin names.....don't want to be. I call these luscious happy flowers simply...Sundrops. These flowers have traveled with me from our 3rd house....to our present home #5. Mrs. Pheifenroth gave me the first ones. She was old and I was very young. She spoke broken english...with a German flavor. I remember her as a rather stern woman who was up early inspecting her garden daily. She had many overturned mason jars in her garden..starting new roses. She never gave me a rose...I guess she knew it would be casting her pearls before swine...then....But somehow I think if she is looking down from heaven...I hope that is where she went...she would be smiling at my pretty garden now..and at my rose. The sundrops...were disposable to her I know now...not much of a sacrifice for her to give them to me...but, I was grateful for them and they have continued to brighten my gardens for over 30 years.
